Are you allowing yourself to be supported?

In my Yoga class this morning I found my self  leaning my legs up towards the wall, a blanket was rolled up underneath my thighs. I had two pillows supporting both my wrists, and one under my head. Oh, and did I mention the warm soft blanket hugging my whole body?

This was the point when the yoga teachers asked: are you allowing yourself to be supported?

It went straight in. I cried. I whispered to myself: yes, yes I am supported.

I wonder what makes it so hard to ask and to receive support in our daily life? Where did we get the idea that that is weak?
In our striving to prove ourselves to be on top of it all, that we can do it alone, we are re-enforcing  an identity of being limited and separate, overlooking that we are all part of one totality and intimately connected to all things.
Everything and everyone are endlessly giving and receiving.

Where am I blocking the flow? Am I resisting support? Am I holding back my gifts?

Do you want to practice with me right now? Lets do it together…

Feel the seat underneath your body, holding you.
Feel the breath filling you, always taking care of you.
You are being held
You are being breathed

Are you allowing yourself to be supported?

ahhh….
I am letting go.

Hello World, Here I am!

One day you just find yourself dancing

The infinite universe planted a seed. Inside the seed is all the wisdom, the inspiration and clarity, everything the seed needs in order to grow into what it is meant to be.
It has the spark of life within it, and will, in one way or the other, grow to fulfill its incarnation, because there is no other incarnation that will blossom in this exact way, ever.
If it does not succeed, it died trying, but it died, fully spent.
It had given every fiber of its being into this holy quest.
The seed is you.

Do you have sense of your calling?
Do you feel a split, a separation between your Being and your actions? And do you long to bridge this, long to have your actions, words and creativity be a reflection and a direct experience of your innermost realization of truth? Continue reading →

I am a billion sparkles of light.

::

I am a yogini. I am timeless.
I am a woman offering myself as truth,
as a throbbing yearning heart.
I am a roar
I am a sigh
I am a billion sparkles of light.
Come closer to me, I will hold you.
Come with me into the realms of constant blossoming,
in to where each atom is flaunting its stunning power.
Together we dare to be that big.
To be that radiant.
To be that trusting.
Come with me into the heart inside the heart, the world inside the world.
Our roots growing deep into cosmos,
in all directions.

Millions and millions of women have prepared for this time

I know that life sometimes sucks, I know you have been through hell.
I know people have disappointed you, hurt you, that you have failed many times, that you have regrets and unfulfilled dreams.
I know that your body does not always fit into the image that you want it to be.
 I know relationships are hard.

I know you have spent years and years working on your “issues”. It is all good.

Now when we have all that out in the open, lets turn it around.
Lets turn it all inside out, and let’s discover a new way, a new world.

We are not leaving this world behind,
this new world is the world inside this world.

It is the world inside that pain, inside that hope,
it is the heart inside the heart inside the heart.
It’s home.

This path is not a path of self improvement,
it is not about fixing yourself,
or comparing yourself to an ideal future state.
It is not a path towards a goal.

It is a love affair.
Union.

You fall helplessly in love, and everything shifts.
All is the same, all is different.

You feel everything stronger,
the pain is more excruciating
the bliss more unbearable beautiful.

You receive every breath, every sound, every thought
with wonder
with attention,
with curiosity.
Some moment are dull or dense or stuck, even those moments are miracles.
Just as when you first fall in love with a person,
you see with fresh eyes.

This is the path of the Yogini.

Here there is only one way to fall and that is deeper and deeper in love.

Everything you call “me”,
thoughts and preference, memories and feelings, hunger and thirst, divine and broken.
will continue to arise, yet the glue between it all will melt away.
It all swirls around like a raindrops in an ocean of light, gone before you can grasp it.

Once you claim your seat on this Yoginicircle your life will never be the same
you fall in love
with yourself.

It is an infinite love affair
with an infinite self

Oh yes, the Yogini’s are back, dancing in from the horizon of timelessness, gathering the sisters.
Millions and millions of women have prepared for this time,
and in the midst of this magnificent display of passion, and love and beauty
if you look around you, you will discover your seat among the wild hearted Yogini’s, ready to live it.

It is time.

pssst… sister… the universe is hiring

So I pray.
It is my job. For real.
Everything that we explore in the Yogini circles, everything you read here,
everything, arises from prayer.

But what about self empowerment?
What about taking charge of our lives?
What about looking for the answer from our own wisdom?
What about all the ways women have given away our power in the name of religion?
What about that the divine is within us?
That there is only One source and no Other to pray to?

I know. I know.  It does not make sense.
But what can I do when I again and again find myself on my knees offering rose petals at Her feet?

I have signed up for full time service, and I could spend the rest of my life saying thank you.

There came a time when I knew I had done it my own painful way long enough,
and I decided to trust Her for real.
When my head touched the ground, I found dignity
In surrender, I found power
In asking and receiving, I was able to serve in a big way
In loosing myself, I found myself
In turning my eyes towards Her, for the first time I saw myself
Finally I found my way

Last night I said to my man, if I could choose my life over, I would not change a thing.
I cannot imagine anything more ecstatic than this (but I assure you that She can, she does it for me every single day.)

Looking back at this year, I saw the crash-landing of an entire online ashram, I was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery, found out I did not have cancer and I lost a beloved friend and colleague in a challenging business break up.

So no, ecstatic does not mean that life is always pink and frilly.

Looking back I also saw a radical expansion of the Global Yogini circle, I turned forty, I moved to my dream house (correction: I could not even dream such a beautiful house, Lakshmi did.) I stayed four weeks in Corfu, my heart’s sanctuary. The most talented awake and inspiring women joined our Awakening Women Team, making the admin side of this work a blast.  I started getting direct guidance from ancient Yoginis, and the year ended with 150 wild souls joining our 21 day sadhana intensive.

So no, ecstatic does not mean that life is always about obstacles either.

Every sensation rushing through me is reminding me that I am given another moment
in this achingly beautiful experience of being human.
Transcendence, density, expansion, contraction,
the Goddess is dancing hot tango with her man,
I am the pulse between their yearning hearts.

Sister, before you get all busy and serious about your new year resolutions,
take a moment to tune into that force which beats your heart,
which grows the leaves on the trees, which creates and tears down,
everything.
Tune into the captivating rhythm of evolution,
and dance your way into your holy calling.
The whole universe is dancing with you.

With love, always

to dive unreservedly into life

It sounds great just to be present.
Who wouldn’t choose that?

When we look a little closer, we realize that in order to live it, we will have to get down in our bodies. And stay. It is not always pleasant to be in our bodies, but to be present, means to welcome life in its totality.

It is tempting to try to live in a world made of daydreams and tidy ideas rather than living right here. Many of us use our intellects and even our spirituality as an attempt to escape this wild messy turmoil called human life.

But for the feminine it is too faint-hearted to abide in lofty spheres of golden light. She longs to dive unreservedly into life. She realizes with all her being that she cannot separate spirit from matter and that the divine is not residing somewhere else. In her willingness to stay fully present, she allows spirit to reveal itself in form. Continue reading →

Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart

Candles burning, Tibetan incense whispers secrets in the early morning.
I am re-emerging slowly up to the surface after almost 21 days of Sadhana, of Spiritual Cleanse.

Daily I claim my seat among the outrageously devoted Yoginis.
Prayers and howls are the soundtrack of my days, the inner channels humming with sparkly fresh winds, the soul raw and real.
I offer flowers at the feet of the deities of my heart, I’ve done it for ever.

Oh, sisters, what a hot and holy ride this is.

Thank you for being part of this circle in whatever way you are claiming your seat.
You are important. You are contributing in your way, and this field of Shakti would not be the same without you.

It is the end of the year, remember this:

:: You did well, sister. You did all that you could. You always do.

:: Forgive yourself. And do it again.

:: Dedicate the fruits of your practice and your awakening this year
to the benefit of all sentient beings.

And this:

Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart

and to try to love the questions themselves

as if they were locked rooms
or books written in a very foreign language.

Don’t search for the answers,
which could not be given to you now,

because you would not be able to live them.

And the point is, to live everything.

Live the questions now.

Perhaps then, someday in the future,

you will gradually,

without even noticing it,

live your way into the answer.

~ Rilke

Spiritual Practice is Self Love

I love spiritual practice.

Yes I know, some cringe thinking about the dreaded D word (yes, discipline..) having had too many authority figures telling us what to do.

But we can also view our commitment to practice as self love. It is a commitment to that which truly nourishes us.
We feed the practice, and then the magic begins to happen when the practice feeds us back. Continue reading →

Talking Through the Door

You say who is at the door?
I say your slave.

You say what do you want?
To see you and bow.

How long will you wait?
Until you call.

How long will you cook?
Until the resurrection. Continue reading →

When will you surrender to the dance? For real.

Have you heard the saying “we are not bodies having a spiritual experience, we are spirits having a bodily experience ”?
In the Shakti tradition we take it one step further, here we embrace the body as spirit, and spirit as body.

Every living being perceives subject and object, but the Shakta resides in their union.
~ Vijnanabhairava Tantra 106

On Spanda and Bird Wings

Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes.
if it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralyzed.

Your deepest presence is in every small contracting
and expanding,
The two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
as birdwings.

~ Rumi

Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it

“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it.
Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality.
It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

Monsters Need Love Too

Guest Blog by Toko-pa Turner

Every self-respecting superhero has an arch-enemy. No matter how strong you get, there will always be a personal kryptonite that drops you to your knees, reduces you to tears, keeps you up all night churning, or causes you to behave badly. Even if you’ve grown wise to it, somehow it still manages to swallow you up. And once you’re inside its belly, it’s all you can do to breathe until it decides to spit you out again.
