About + Contact
A Yogini is a spiritual rebellion engaged in a glowing and embodied,
nothing-held-back love affair with the great mystery.
She moves in the world with fierce compassion,
grace and freedom,
and is passionate about truth,
rest & real love.
She is fluent in angelic, diva and in Kali roars.
Earth is home and so is infinity.
~ Chameli Devi
We are Yoginis, feminine spiritual practitioners.
Rooted in an ancient lineage, we practice embodied spirituality in the midst of our lives as modern women.
In our daily lives we support and challenge each other into the real in our vibrantly alive online community forum, and many women meet in Women’s Temple Groups in their home towns.
Women from all corners of the world contribute in co-creating a field of Shakti, which again provides each one of us with a powerful transmission of grace and awakening.
We practice the feminine way, an all inclusive in-the-body spirituality, beyond dusty dogmas and far fetched goals of the future. Spiritual awakening, instead of being a peak experience you once had, or a concept you read about and compare yourself with, becomes a lived and embodied realization of freedom and love uniquely experienced and expressed through each woman.
All the work of the Awakening Women Institute arises out of a passionate intention to bring true peace and happiness to all sentient beings, and our programs are our contribution to that.
We donate regularly to various non-profit organizations that support women, children and the environment. So when you purchase any of our products/services you also support these causes.

Founder of Awakening Women Institute
Chameli is a leading pioneer in contemporary feminine spirituality, and she has inspired thousands of women around the world with her breakthrough methods for living and embodying feminine awakening. She is especially appreciated for her love of mythology and storytelling as a method for illuminating our hidden strength and beauty.
As a teen Chameli embarked on her journey as a spiritual explorer, which, at the age of twenty, led her to India, which she has returned to more than fifteen times. She has studied with many remarkable mentors and undergone thousands of hours of intense practice of meditation and spiritual studies. The last 15 years she has been a student of ShantiMayi, a wisdom teacher based in India and France.
Chameli has taken every opportunity to become adept in her field through her own practice as well as through extensive training in group dynamics, meditation and spiritual counseling. She is the initiator of a global network of groups for women, and the author of two books on feminine empowerment and spirituality, which have been published in three languages.
Chameli was featured in the book Ordinary Women, Extra-ordinary Wisdom: The Feminine face of Awakening (www. extraordinarywisdom.net) by Rita Marie Robinson, M.A, a collection of conversations with women spiritual teachers. She was also featured in The Translucent Revolution by Arjuna Ardagh, as an authority on feminine spiritual practice and in Hope Beneath Our Feet by Martin Koegh.
Chameli was born in Norway and now lives in Northern California with her husband Arjuna and her cat, Angel.
Suzan left her engineering career in 1995 to study alternative healing including herbs, flower essences, sound healing and Reiki. She stepped into her dream job with AWI in 2009, connecting with awakening women all over the world and returning to her loved skill sets of administration, organization and team building. She is a grateful daily practitioner of the AWI feminine embodiment practices, and she is deeply nurtured by the natural world and most content with her bare feet on the Earth…preferably near water. She lives in Northern California, and enjoys being with her beloved community of friends and family.
