Yogini Wisdom

Short quotes to inspire you on your path.

Presence is Freedom

Shiva symbolizes a part of our consciousness that is always awake, always here. He is pure presence.

Without the recognition of our Shiva consciousness, we are in the material experience—but we are in it asleep. Without presence, there is no possibility to do our inner yoga; there is no possibility of choice. There is a sense that “life is happening to me and I’m a victim of it; I have to do what everybody else says. I have to make my life about proving something.” Presence opens this great space and possibility of choice. Presence is freedom.

Rest in the Rhythm of the Breath

Bring your focus into the body; rest in the rhythm of the breath. Just by directing your awareness like this, the breath is allowed to enter you a little bit deeper down into the body, as if you would open an inner embrace between the breath and your pelvis, welcoming the breath like a loyal lover.

Be Kind to Yourself

Just for a moment, experiment to simply stay present with the felt sense of your experience. You may notice an urge to label it as thoughts or feelings, to put it all into tidy boxes. We do this all day long. But for now relax all of that and simply breathe and stay with the sensations of how this moment expresses itself in your body.

All of this is not so solid and defined as you usually take it to be. Relax into the underlying vibrational reality of your experience and discover the spaciousness, connection and freedom that makes sages in all dimensions howl in devotion.

We Thirst for the Medicine of the Real

We do spiritual practice to get out of our own way, to unclench the rigid, automatic ways, and become translucent, soft enough so that the unspeakable essence can permeate through us.

It is as if the Goddess is pressing herself through whoever is willing. It is not always pretty and it doesn’t always feel good. It doesn’t always look “enlightened” or “goddessy”, yet we all can feel it when something authentic comes through. We don’t need any more plastic versions of the perfect woman; what we thirst for is the raw, magical medicine of the real.
