Green Tara is known as the Liberator—the one who arises in response to the suffering of the world. With one foot stepping forward, ever ready to act, and the other resting in the eternal, she mirrors to us pathways of how to engage with the world without losing ourselves in the noise and overwhelm.

In Tibetan mythology, we learn that Green Tara was born from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of infinite compassion. As he wept for the suffering of the world, Green Tara emerged, not with frantic energy, but as a fierce and loving presence.

Sometimes called the Goddess of Fearlessness, she mirrors to us a courage that is not about pushing away fear, but a willingness to stay open—to feel fully, and to let that energy bring us into a deeper truth.

In the alchemy of Goddess practice no part of us is rejected. We learn to breathe into the tight places within us, inviting our awareness to rest where we often turn away. Here the feelings we often resist—the fear, grief, anger, or longing—are not viewed as obstacles to overcome, but portals to deeper presence.

Rather than numbing or pushing them aside, we offer them our breath, our tenderness, our willingness to feel. With each inhale, we soften the rigid edges of our resistance. With each exhale, we create more space for energy to flow.

As we soften and breathe into our experience, we discover that the feelings we wished to push away, the fear, grief, confusion, are in truth, currents of Shakti—primordial life-force energy—and when we bring them into ritual and embodied practice, they bring us closer to life, to wisdom and divine connection.

From this more grounded place, we are able to listen deeper, and respond when needed, with more discernment and presence.

We ask more useful questions like:
What is the one step needed now, in this moment?

What is my seat, my role at this time?

Where can I best offer my presence and care—both to myself and to the world around me?

Questions that allow our action to arise from the deep, steady knowing that lives within our hearts.

On Saturday, March 29, we will gather to practice with Green Tara in a live-streamed ritual retreat. Through devotion, mantra, and embodied ritual, we will call upon Green Tara’s radiant wisdom, opening to her guidance and protection.

The retreat will be recorded for you to return to in your own time if you are unable to attend live.
